Novol N91092 N-Range Rock Clear 8200 – Very High Solids (VHS) 2:1 Clearcoat, 5.0 Litre
The Novol N91092 Rock Clear 8200 is a premier, Very High Solids (VHS) two-component (2K) acrylic clearcoat from the top-tier N-Range series. As the name "Rock" suggests, this coating is engineered for extreme hardness and environmental resistance. With a higher resin concentration than standard HS clearcoats, it provides a "ceramic-like" protective layer that is exceptionally resistant to stone chips, scratches, and chemical etching.
Designed for high-end automotive refinishing, the 8200 delivers a massive "build" in just 1.5 coats, making it one of the most efficient and durable clearcoats available for luxury and performance vehicles.
Key Features & Benefits
- Extreme Mechanical Strength: Offers "Rock-hard" protection against physical impacts, making it the ideal choice for front bumpers, bonnets, and side sills.
- Very High Solids (VHS) Technology: Contains significantly more film-forming resin per litre than standard clearcoats, providing superior thickness and "body" with fewer spray passes.
- Deep Crystalline Gloss: Produces a heavy, glass-like finish with incredible optical clarity that won't "sink" or dull over time.
- Superior Chemical Resistance: Highly resilient against fuel spills, road salt, bird droppings, and industrial fallout.
- Outstanding UV Protection: Fortified with advanced light stabilizers to ensure the clearcoat remains perfectly transparent and non-yellowing, even in high-UV climates.
- Reduced Solvent Emissions: The VHS formula means fewer VOCs are released during application, meeting the strictest environmental standards without compromising on finish.
Professional Application Guidelines
- The 2:1 Mix: To achieve the intended VHS performance, mix this 5.0L clearcoat with 2.5L of Novol 90-800 Hardener.
- Application Technique: Apply one "half-coat" (a light, closed coat) followed by one full wet coat. Because of the high resin content, the product levels exceptionally well on its own.
- Flash-off Time: Allow 7–12 minutes between coats. Ensure the first coat has reached a "tacky" state before applying the final wet coat to prevent solvent entrapment or "popping."
- No Thinning Required: Usually applied ready-to-spray once mixed with hardener. Only add a maximum of 5% Novol N65511 Thinner if working in temperatures exceeding 25°C.
- Curing:
- At 20°C: Ready to handle in 8–10 hours.
- At 60°C (Bake): Ready to polish after 30 minutes of baking followed by a 15-minute cooling period.
