Novol 91384 H5160 Hardener – Standard Activator for Air-Dry Clearcoat (500ml)
The Novol H5160 is the dedicated chemical activator for Novol Novakryl 560 Air-Dry Clearcoat. This 500ml unit contains the specific isocyanates and catalysts required to trigger the rapid ambient temperature curing that makes the 560 system famous.
Because Novakryl 560 is an "Air-Dry" specialist, this hardener is engineered to work at maximum efficiency between 15°C and 25°C, allowing the clearcoat to reach polishing hardness without the need for an expensive bake cycle.
The Power Mix: 2:1 Ratio
This hardener is precisely measured to pair with the 1-litre Novakryl 560 unit.
- The "Perfect Match": This 500ml hardener activates 1.0 Litre of Novakryl 560 (91383).
- Mixing Ratio: 2:1 (2 parts Clearcoat : 1 part Hardener).
- Yield: Mixing the two creates 1.5 Litres of ready-to-spray, high-solid material.
- Thinning: Under standard conditions, this 2:1 mix is sprayed without thinner to maintain the fastest possible drying times.
Key Features & Benefits
- Rapid Cross-Linking: Specifically formulated to drive the chemical reaction forward at room temperature, reaching a "dust-free" state in roughly 15–20 minutes.
- High Gloss Stability: Ensures the clearcoat levels out perfectly before "locking in," preventing the orange peel effect often associated with fast-drying products.
- Crystal Clarity: Optimized to ensure zero yellowing or cloudiness, providing a perfectly transparent shield over complex metallic or pearl basecoats.
- UV Resistance: Contains the necessary stabilizers to protect the underlying paint from solar degradation and environmental etching.
- Moisture Sensitivity Control: Engineered to remain stable in standard workshop humidity, though it should always be kept tightly sealed.
Expert Insight: The H5160 hardener is what gives the 560 clearcoat its "Express" energy-saving properties. If you try to use a different Novol hardener (like H5110) with the 560 clearcoat, it will not air-dry at the intended speed and may stay soft for several days.
