Novol 36101 Plus 710 Fiberglass Repair Box (250g)
The Novol Plus 710 Repair Box is the ultimate "first aid kit" for damaged vehicle bodywork. This 250g set is a complete, all-in-one solution designed for repairing large holes, perforated rust, and structural cracks in metal or plastic components.
By combining high-strength polyester resin with a glass fiber mat, it creates a rigid, reinforced "patch" that is significantly stronger than standard body filler.
What's Inside the Box?
- Polyester Resin (250g): A high-bonding, unsaturated resin that serves as the liquid matrix.
- Hardener (Paste): The catalyst required to trigger the chemical hardening process.
- Glass Fiber Mat: A section of glass matting used to provide the structural "skeleton" for the repair.
Key Features & Benefits
- Structural Reinforcement: Perfect for "bridging" gaps and holes where there is no metal left to support a traditional putty.
- Superior Adhesion: Bonds aggressively to steel, aluminum, old paint, and existing polyester laminates.
- Waterproof Seal: Creates a non-porous barrier that is ideal for floor pans, wheel arches, and lower sills.
- High Impact Resistance: Once cured, the fiberglass patch can withstand significant vibration and mechanical stress without cracking.
- All-In-One Convenience: Small and portable, making it the perfect size for DIY repairs or small spot fixes in a professional shop.
Professional Repair Strategy
Fiberglass repair is a multi-step process. Accuracy and speed are essential:
- Preparation: Grind away all loose rust and paint. The surface must be bare metal and sanded with P80–P120. Clean with Novol Plus 780.
- Mat Prep: Cut pieces of the glass mat to size before mixing the resin. Ensure the mat overlaps the hole by at least 2–3 cm.
- Mixing: Mix only the amount of resin you need. Stir in 2–3% hardener until the color is consistent.
- Application:
- Brush resin onto the repair area.
- Place the mat on the wet resin.
- "Dab" the mat with the brush until it becomes translucent (this means it is fully saturated).
- Apply a second layer of mat for extra strength if needed.
- Finishing: Once hard, sand the rough edges. Fiberglass is a structural fix, not a cosmetic one - you must apply a layer of Novol Unisoft Putty over the top to smooth it out before priming.
Expert Insight: Don't "paint" with the brush; use a stippling (poking) motion. This forces the resin into the fibers and pushes out air bubbles. Trapped air is the enemy of a strong fiberglass repair!
