Novol 38332 Novakryl 530 – Matte Finish Acrylic Clearcoat (500ml)
Achieve a high-end, non-reflective "stealth" look with Novol Novakryl 530. This 500ml unit is a premium 2K acrylic clearcoat specifically engineered to provide a consistent, deep Matte finish.
Unlike standard clearcoats that reflect light, Novakryl 530 is infused with specialized matting agents that scatter light, making it the perfect choice for full-body "frozen" finishes, interior trim accents, or motorcycle components where a rugged, modern aesthetic is desired.
The Power Mix: 2:1 Ratio
This is a professional 2K product that requires a chemical activator to cure to its final scratch-resistant state.
- Mixing Ratio: 2:1 (2 parts Matte Clearcoat : 1 part Hardener).
- Required Hardener: Novol H 5550 (Standard) or H 5570 (Fast).
- Thinner: Adding 10–20% Novol THIN 850 is highly recommended to ensure the matting agents distribute evenly and the paint "lays down" without texture.
Key Features & Benefits
- Uniform Matte Appearance: Formulated to provide a smooth, low-gloss finish without "blotching" or uneven shiny spots (mottling).
- High Mechanical Resistance: Despite the matte look, it offers the same level of protection against stone chips and scratches as a high-gloss clearcoat.
- UV & Chemical Shield: Protects the underlying basecoat from fading in the sun and resists damage from bird droppings and fuel spills.
- Excellent Elasticity: The cured film is flexible enough to resist cracking on plastic bumpers and trim pieces.
- "Soft Touch" Feel: Provides a premium, tactile surface that feels smoother than standard gloss finishes.
Professional Application Strategy
Matte clearcoat is the "black belt" of painting - you cannot polish out mistakes, so the application must be perfect.
- Preparation: The basecoat must be perfectly clean and dry. Use a fresh tack rag to remove every speck of dust.
- Agitation (Critical): Shake the tin vigorously for 3 minutes before pouring. Matting agents are heavy and settle at the bottom; if not mixed perfectly, the finish will be patchy or too glossy.
- Spray: Use a 1.3mm to 1.4mm nozzle at 2.0 bar. Apply 2 full coats. Allow a 10–15 minute flash-off between coats (the surface must look completely matte before the next coat).
- No Buffing: Never sand or polish a matte clearcoat. Any friction will "burnish" the surface and turn it into a permanent shiny spot.
Expert Insight: If you want a "Satin" (semi-gloss) finish rather than a dead-flat matte, you can actually mix Novakryl 530 (Matte) with Novakryl 590 (Gloss). A 1:1 mix of the two clearcoats will result in a beautiful custom satin sheen.
