Constant velocity (CV) joints are a drivetrain component commonly found on most modern vehicles. They transfer power from the vehicle’s transmission and differential to the wheels in order to drive the vehicle. CV joints have a greased flexible joint that allows the axle to flex according to road conditions, with minimal effect on power delivery. This grease is then housed within a flexible rubber CV boot. When CV joints begin to fail, it may be due to a damaged CV boot. There are some tell-tail signs: excessive vibration when driving, loud clicking noises when turning and grease on the edge of the tire. Any problem with your CV joint assembly is a serious safety issue. If you notice any of the above symptoms, you should consult a professional mechanic without delay and have it replaced immediately.
