Overview

A vehicle is only as good as the components that it uses. With Apec, those components are built to OE specifications to guarantee the performance customers and installers expect with a unique aftermarket twist.

Brake cables are an essential component of a vehicle’s braking system, serving to connect the braking mechanism with the pedal or handle levers. These cables have to be highly durable and long-lasting, as they are subjected to a great deal of pressure as brakes are applied. Brake cables consist of several steel strands which encase a core cable made from a polymer material. The inner core is typically covered in an outer jacket of either PVC or corrosion resistant material, providing additional protection against wear and tear. In addition, the ends of these cables may also have springs or clips attached to them for added security.

Apec brake cables are a heavily durable solution for accurate, effortless control of your vehicle’s braking system. Primed for Apec quality and consistency, cables are reinforced with either galvanised or nylon-coated inner wires and strands that precisely match OE specifications. Pre-lubricated and constructed using wear-resistant materials, Apec Cables are 100% proof loading tested up to 800lbs to promise dependable performance under intense conditions.

Buying & Fitting Guide

Buying & Fitting Guide
To ensure that you get the correct brake cable(s), it is best to check the size and shape of the one currently installed so you can compare with the listed cables. Some important information for selecting the correct brake cable is the type of cable needed; overall length, fitting position, brake type and date limitation of the unit. As car manufacturers regularly update certain peripherals and design of their models, some brake cables will only be suitable for particular models of certain years.

Helpful Tips

Helpful Tips
The parking brake cable assembly can be made up of a few different parts that run through or beneath the vehicle. The purpose of the parking brake cable is to join the link between the parking brake control and the parking brake mechanical brake assemblies. Engaging a vehicle’s mechanical parking brake applies a high amount of tension to the parking brake cable in order to transfer mechanical force from the control assembly to the mechanical brake assembly. Over time, the integrity of the parking brake can become hindered, resulting in poor performance. If you feel that your rear braking system is not gripping as it should, we recommend having it inspected prior to a major failure or it becoming stuck in the parked position, rendering your vehicle unusable.
