When replacing boot struts, it is necessary to bleed the new struts and to always install in pairs to avoid inconsistency in performance. Another tip when removing old struts and replacing new ones is to use a set of vice grips to secure the strut in the extended position to avoid the boot lid from falling to an abrupt close.
