U-POL S2081SR is a premier Ultra High Solids (UHS) 2K acrylic urethane clear coat that combines the extreme depth of the "Diamond" range with advanced scratch-resistant technology. Engineered to meet the highest global VOC standards, this clear coat provides a "ceramic-style" hardness that protects against car wash brush marring and environmental abrasion while delivering an incomparable, glass-like finish.
Key Performance Features:
- Ultra-High Solids (UHS) Build: Featuring a high resin-to-solvent ratio, this clear coat achieves a massive film build in fewer passes, providing superior "hold-out" and a deep, mirror-like gloss.
- Advanced Scratch Resistance: Formulated with specialized cross-linking resins that resist surface scratching and swirl marks, keeping the vehicle looking "just painted" for longer.
- VOC Compliant: Specifically developed to meet the most stringent environmental regulations (420g/l), making it the ultimate choice for modern, eco-conscious professional bodyshops.
- Diamond Clarity: Offers exceptional transparency that will not yellow or cloud, ensuring that metallic and pearl basecoats retain their full brilliance and "flop."
- Excellent Flow & Leveling: Despite its high viscosity, it levels out beautifully to a smooth, factory-quality finish, significantly reducing the time spent on color sanding.
Application Guidelines
To achieve a "Diamond" hard, scratch-resistant finish:
- Hardener Selection: Pair with U-POL S2039EV UHS Hardener (Standard or Fast). The use of UHS activators is critical to ensure the scratch-resistant resins cross-link correctly.
- Gun Setup: Use a high-performance gravity-fed gun with a 1.2mm to 1.3mm nozzle. UHS products require precise atomization to prevent orange peel.
- The Process:
- Apply one medium (half) coat, followed immediately by one full "wet" coat (1.5 coat process).
- Alternatively, apply two full coats with a 10-minute flash-off between each.
- Curing: Air Dry: 12–16 hours (@ 20°C). Bake: 30 minutes (@ 60°C metal temperature). Baking is highly recommended to reach the "Diamond" hardness specifications.
Expert Tip: Because this is an Ultra High Solids product, it is much thicker than standard clear coats. Avoid the temptation to "flood" the panel on the first coat. A light initial coat provides the "grip" for the second full coat to lay down perfectly flat without running or sagging.
Safety Warning: This product contains isocyanates once mixed. Professional use only. An air-fed respirator is strongly recommended for UHS applications. Always wear nitrile gloves and a full protective paint suit.
