Rowan Atkinson crashed his McLaren F1 on Friday afternoon on the A605 in Cambridgeshire. The car the actor paid £650,000 for looked a shadow of its former self as Mr. Bean lost control, hit a tree, a lamppost and went on fire after it skidded onto the side of the dual carriageway. Fortunately the actor left Peterborough City Hospital in a wheelchair but without serious injuries.
It was not Atkinson's first accident in the McLaren, previously he rear ended a lady driving an Austin Metro back in 1999. Below is a picture of the car after the incident before it was sent back to the McLaren factory in Woking for repairs.
It is not clear whether the car will be repaired after Atkinson's latest hiccup. However even if it does not this McLaren lived a good life (clocking up 37,000 miles according to a recent interview on Top Gear). A lot of people will bash Atkinson for destroying an iconic car. but at the end of the day at least he drives his McLaren rather than leaving it in storage and it never seeing the light of day which is the fate that has befallen too many McLaren F1s.
