Radiator hoses are exposed to high temperatures, resulting in degradation of material over time. It is important to check radiator hoses as part of your routine inspection in order to prevent catastrophic damage to your engine. Stuck radiator hoses can be a real pain, especially if they are way down inside the engine compartment and hard to get to. In most cases, the hose clamp can be loosened and pull it off. Not so with hoses that have been on for 10 plus years. If they have been clamped to an aluminium nipple it makes matters even worse due to the corrosion that can form almost "gluing" the hose in place. If you encounter a stubborn radiator hose and you know that you will be replacing it, you can always cut the hose 2 inches from the end of the hose and twist it off. The most ideal method is to use a
radiator hose removal tool, especially if you plan to re-fit the current hose back on to your vehicle.
