Buying & Fitting Guide

Buying & Fitting Guide
There are a wide variety of seals on a typical vehicle, from door and window seals to essential seals in the engine and moving parts, all of which help to block out harmful elements and keep the vehicle and its peripherals safe and tightly sealed. To ensure that you get the correct crankshaft seal, it is best to check the size and shape of the one currently installed so you can compare with the listed seals. Some important information for selecting the correct part is the type of seal design needed; thickness, diameter fitment position, material and date limitation of the unit. As car manufacturers regularly update certain peripherals and design of their models, some crankshaft seals will only be suitable for particular models of certain years.

Helpful Tips

Helpful Tips
The crankshaft seal is the seal located on the front of the engine that seals the end of the crankshaft within the timing cover. They serve an important purpose in keeping the oil that is constantly being used and tossed by the crankshaft as it rotates from leaking out of the engine’s crankcase. When they fail they can cause leaks which can make a mess, and if left unattended, can put the engine at risk of serious damage. Usually a crankshaft seal will display a few symptoms that can alert the driver that there may be an issue that should be serviced, the most common being an oil leak from underneath the engine. Removing the seal can be quite tricky without the correct tools. This double ended seal puller is perfect for removing stubborn seams from most areas of the engine bay.
