Not all brake shoes listed are suitable for the specific model of your vehicle. Two vehicles of the same year and engine size may require different types of brake drums which would affect the required size of the shoes that are needed. These differences may be due to what factory the vehicle was built in or what extra features it has such as increased engine power. The best way to ensure you get the correct brake shoes is to compare the shoes with those that are already fitted. For more guidance on selecting the correct part, see our buying and fitting guide. To ensure that the drum brake operates safely, complete repair kits must always be used when replacing brake shoes. When complete kits are used, all the wear parts of the drum brake are replaced at the same time. Worn springs or wheel brake cylinders could compromise the performance of the brake shoe if replaced with old springs.

Since most vehicles with drum brakes have them on the rear wheels only, the brake lining material wears at a slower rate than the linings on the front brakes. They will eventually wear out and it's important to periodically check them so they can be replaced before expensive damage is done. We recommend having your brake shoes inspected every 15,000 miles.
