With that in mind we&#8217;ve compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions we get. The FAQ should help you understand tyre labelling, tyre sizing,\u00a0tyre type and lots more to boot!  <\/p>\n<h4>Who will fit my tyres?<\/h4>\n<p>  First of all, it\u2019s worth pointing out that fitting tyres is a job best left to the pro\u2019s. It is a skilled job that requires special tools and training.\u00a0Buying tyres online is extremely popular these days, so much so that garages have become accustomed to customers arriving with their own tyres and asking them to be fitted, so it shouldn\u2019t be an issue finding a garage to fit your tyres.    That said, It\u2019s always a good idea to phone ahead and make sure before you arrive. Also while you\u2019re on the phone, check how much they\u2019re going to charge to fit the new tyres and dispose of your old ones. It\u2019s also worth checking that there is no additional fee for bringing your own tyres \u2013 if there is, move on, most garage wont charge extra these days.    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imagetin.com\/images\/micksgarage-ie\/421a2477-0\/maxresdefault_d28025.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-6183 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.imagetin.com\/images\/micksgarage-ie\/421a2477-0\/maxresdefault_d28025.jpg\" alt=\"Tyres: Frequently Asked Questions\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" \/><\/a>  <\/p>\n<h4>What is tyre labelling?<\/h4>\n<p>  New EU Legislation dictates that every new tyre sold within Europe (with a few exceptions*) must be labelled. In a bid to make the label easy to understand it\u2019s designed in a similar way to the labels you\u2019ll see on a new fridge or washing machine.    <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-6187 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.imagetin.com\/images\/micksgarage-ie\/421a2477-0\/more-about-tire-label_tcm2093-167171-300x137_c4aaec.jpg\" alt=\"Tyres: Frequently Asked Questions\" width=\"300\" height=\"137\" \/>    The label provides info on the tyres performance in 3 different areas:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fuel Efficiency<\/li>\n<li>Wet Grip<\/li>\n<li>External rolling noise<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>  <strong><em>\u00a0Are all tyres included?<\/em><\/strong>    At present no. Not all tyre categories are covered by the legislation, only the following:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Car tyres<\/li>\n<li>4&#215;4 tyres<\/li>\n<li>Van tyres<\/li>\n<li>Truck tyres<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>  <em>Tyres Not Covered:\u00a0<\/em>Racing, professional off road, spare, vintage, re-tread, motorbike or studded tyres, you will not see this label.    &nbsp;  <\/p>\n<h4>Explanation of tyre labels<\/h4>\n<p>  <strong><em>Fuel consumption.<\/em><\/strong>    The\u00a0<strong>rolling resistance<\/strong>\u00a0of your tyres is a key contributing factor in the amount of fuel that your car uses. Low rolling resistance equals better fuel economy and vice versa.\u00a0The classification enables you to assess fuel efficiency per 100km.\u00a0Class A corresponds to the best performance and class G to the worst.    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imagetin.com\/images\/micksgarage-ie\/421a2477-0\/cons_e02451.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-6179 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.imagetin.com\/images\/micksgarage-ie\/421a2477-0\/cons_e02451.jpg\" alt=\"Tyres: Frequently Asked Questions\" width=\"370\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a>    <strong><em>Wet grip.<\/em><\/strong>    This rating provides info on the tyres grip levels on wet roads, A being the best and G being the worst.\u00a0The rating is calculated by a stopping distance test on a wet road at 50mph    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imagetin.com\/images\/micksgarage-ie\/421a2477-0\/image_05195e.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-6180 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.imagetin.com\/images\/micksgarage-ie\/421a2477-0\/image_05195e.jpg\" alt=\"Tyres: Frequently Asked Questions\" width=\"370\" height=\"221\" \/><\/a>    <strong><em>External rolling noise ( in dB)<\/em><\/strong>    The tyres exterior noise rating is expressed in decibels.\u00a0One black soundwave indicates the lowest noise level.\u00a0Three black soundwaves indicates the loudest noise level    <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-6188\" src=\"https:\/\/www.micksgarage.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/en-noise-three-classifications.png\" alt=\"Tyres: Frequently Asked Questions\" width=\"400\" height=\"244\" \/>  <\/p>\n<h4>What Tyre Pressures Should I Run?<\/h4>\n<p>  The correct tyre pressures for your car can usually be found on the inside of the fuel filler cap, on the drivers door jamb or in the owners manual.\u00a0There should be two values, one for normal load, and another for when the vehicle is fully loaded.\u00a0It is important to check your tyre pressures when they are cold as warm air inside hot tyres expands and will give a high reading.\u00a0Remember to replace the valve cap for proper sealing.    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imagetin.com\/images\/micksgarage-ie\/421a2477-0\/pressure_fd6831.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-6181 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.imagetin.com\/images\/micksgarage-ie\/421a2477-0\/pressure_fd6831.jpg\" alt=\"Tyres: Frequently Asked Questions\" width=\"650\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a>    <strong>Under inflated tyres :<\/strong>\u00a0An underinflated tyre will wear out more quickly and is likely to overheat. Excessive overheating can result in a blowout. An underinflated tyre will also have a detrimental effect on your cars ride and handling.    <strong>Over-inflated tyres :<\/strong>\u00a0An overinflated tyre will lead to faster wear of the tyre in the centre of the tread and will give an overly firm ride and will affect you cars handling.    As a general rule, check your tyre pressures once a month. It will offer the best grip and road holding in these conditions but on wet roads it won\u2019t perform as well.    <em><strong>Winter tyres<\/strong><\/em>    In some countries, winter tyres are a legal requirement but In the UK and Ireland that isn\u2019t the case however, there is certainly an argument for fitting Winter tyres between November and March when temperatures drop and the roads are wet more often than not.\u00a0As well as having a more aggressive tread pattern Winter tyres are constructed from a softer rubber compound which provides better grip at lower road temperatures, the drawback being higher wear rates though.    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imagetin.com\/images\/micksgarage-ie\/421a2477-0\/sipedsnowtire_38190b.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6192\" src=\"https:\/\/www.imagetin.com\/images\/micksgarage-ie\/421a2477-0\/sipedsnowtire_38190b.jpg\" alt=\"SipedSnowTire\" width=\"300\" height=\"277\" \/><\/a>    <em><strong>All season tyres<\/strong><\/em>    As the name suggests, all season tyres are designed to work all year round and are a good compromise between summer and winter tyres.
