{"id":388,"date":"2025-12-31T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-12-31T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2026-04-22T08:52:06","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T07:52:06","slug":"eu-car-registrations-down-for-twelve-consecutive-months","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/micksgarageblog.org\/eu-car-registrations-down-for-twelve-consecutive-months\/","title":{"rendered":"EU Car Registrations Down For Twelve Consecutive Months"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Not exactly the catchiest headline to a story, but &#8220;Car Sales Plummet Into Oblivion&#8221; is probably going a little over the top.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"112\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.e-rockford.com\/applesauce\/files\/2011\/05\/car-flying-off-cliff.jpg\" width=\"200\" \/><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acea.be\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">European Automobile Manufacturers&#8217; Association (www.acea.be)<\/a>, which includes amongst its members&nbsp;BMW, Fiat, Ford, General Motors, Hyundai, Peugeot, Renault, Toyota and Volkswagen, have released some stats showing that new passenger car registrations across the EU have declined for twelve consecutive months.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">1,099,264 new cars were registered in the EU in September 2012, down 10.8% compared to September 2011.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<table cellpadding=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: justify;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"136\" src=\"http:\/\/www.acea.be\/images\/uploads\/files\/20121016_pr_pc_gr2.jpg\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" width=\"320\" \/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\">Source:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.acea.be\/index.php\/news\/news_detail\/passenger_car_registrations_-7.6_over_ninemonths_-10.8_in_september\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">ACEA &#8211; New EU Car Registrations in September<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The UK was the only major market to buck this trend, with 332,476 cars registered in September 2011 increasing to 359,612 cars registered in September 2012 (+8.2%).<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">In Ireland, new car registrations in September 2012 (2,487) were down 10.1% compared to September 2011 (2,767).<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.acea.be\/index.php\/news\/news_detail\/passenger_car_registrations_-7.6_over_ninemonths_-10.8_in_september\">Further information can be found on the ACEA&#8217;s website<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Should say that all these stats exclude Malta.
