So here it is – Project GTi!\u00a0<\/strong>Having our own project car was an idea we\u2019d been mulling over here at MicksGarage<\/a> for quite some time. We all agreed it was a good idea but taking the conversation from concept to reality took a bit of time. The reasons for buying a project car were many. We wanted something that could be incorporated into and would add value to a number of other projects that we\u2019re involved with this year, namely video production, Motorsport sponsorship and our new blog. The car itself had to tick quite a few boxes. It had to be a very popular model\u00a0so that the widest possible audience\u00a0could relate to it, value for money was high on the list of priorities, it had to be practical, it had to be easily tune-able and it had to be capable of lapping a race track without embarrassing itself. \u00a0When it came down to it, there were actually very few cars that ticked all of these boxes, so that\u2019s how we ended up with a Volkswagen Golf, the best-selling car in Ireland and the 3rd best-selling car in the world!\"Project<\/a> Get Involved!\u00a0<\/strong>The car\u2019s primary function is to form the basis of our Service Academy & DIY videos<\/a> and we really want your input on this. We’d like you to tell us what videos you want us to shoot. For example, do you want to see a guide on how to replace a window regulator? Or a step by step tutorial on how to fit new ignition coils perhaps? Maybe you want to learn how to parallel park or execute a perfect J turn! So don\u2019t be shy, let us know and leave your feedback in the comments section below. In addition to the DIY videos we\u2019re also planning a number of special features where we take a look under the bonnet of companies providing specialist products & services linked to the car industry, such as engine mapping and performance tuning, alloy wheel repair or valeting and detailing \u2013 again if you’ve got any ideas or suggestions for topics you\u2019d like us to cover, let us know in the comments.
