There was plenty of motor sport action this week end, the two big events being the Abu Dhabi Grand prix and Wales Rally GB. In Formula 1 Sebastien Vettel Spun out on the first lap due to a punctured rear tyre, the resulting damage caused by the flailing tyre unfortunately ended his race. McLaren's Lewis Hamilton went on to win the race with the Ferrari of Fernando Alonso finishing in 2nd and Jenson Button coming home in 3rd.
Wales Rally GB was to decide a closely fought season-long title battle between Mikko Hirvonen and 7 time world champion Sebastien Loeb. Hirvonen sealed his own fate and handed the title to Loeb by crashing the Fiesta and damaging the radiator on the Dyfnant stage on Friday. The Ford driver was able to complete the stage but the engine was so badly damaged that they had to withdraw from the rally. Jari-Matti Latvala actually won the rally, his first victory of the 2011 World Rally season. Sebastien Loeb now has an incredible 8 consecutive World rally championships to his name.
