Today folks, I’ll be discussing some exciting developments which I hope will eventually represent a huge milestone in my drifting career and my personal life.
I’ve been a driver for Team Dealtwidth for the last 2 years and have loved every second of it. Dealtwidth’s roots extend quite a way back and initially represented a group of friends that simply drove hard and lived that fun drift lifestyle so many people aspire to.
An opportunity presented itself for a Dealtwidth merchandise line to grow in Parallel with the Irish Drift Championship and things got off to a flying start. Unfortunately, last season due to one of the key players, David Egan, having so many huge obligations with coordinating 3 major championships in Ireland and the U.K, it seemed that Dealtwidth sort of Plateaued in growth. This was something that I hoped to amend ASAP and after several discussions with David, it was decided that me and a friend of mine would take the reins and assume ownership of the brand as of March.
Currently, we have a brand-new merchandise line in the pipeline and I’m really excited to release our latest clothes and other goodies. Our merchandise will be available at Irish Drift Championship and Select British Drift Championship events and we hope to have an online store up and running within the next two months, so stay tuned to our
Social Media channels for updates on that. Over the next few months we hope to start branching into a few other extreme sports too and hopefully broaden our audience.
Our main goals for this year are to do as well as we can in competition but also from the brands perspective we hope to massively increase Dealtwidth’s and our partner’s presence and recognition within Drifting, Motorsports as well as in the general population all while sticking to the roots of the team and spreading that drive hard, party hard vibe. There are some pretty big aspirations for us, all while trying to run a competitive IDC program but nonetheless we feel they are achievable.
Now onto the backbone of our team, our drivers. Without these guys the team & brand just couldn’t exist. This year Dealtwidth will be represented by 3 drivers spanning the pro and pro-am classes. Our first driver needs no introduction, the infamous Brian Egan. Brian, a good friend of mine is renowned in the European and worldwide drift scene and in his 6 years of competition has claimed numerous podiums at Pro and Super Pro level both In Ireland and abroad. A really interesting feat of Brian’s is that in 4 years of IDC Pro competition, he has not finished outside the top 10. Once again Brian will be competing in his trusty 500BHP 2JZ R32 this year. With some mechanical and cosmetic upgrades over the off-season, Brian certainly plans on bringing it to the “Big Boys” in the championship this year. I’m excited to see what he achieves.
Our next driver, David Garvey is a new recruit for the 2017 season and choosing him was an absolute no-brainer due to his ability as a driver, his recognition within the Drift scene, his awesome car and the fact that like Brian, we go back as friends for quite a while. David will be representing Dealtwidth this year in his 600HP Ex-D1GP RB25DET PS13. Similarly to Brian, David is making both functional and cosmetic changes to his car for this season and we’re super excited to see it in the Dealtwidth livery. Stay tuned for the reveal soon!
The last driver that will be representing Dealtwidth this year is none other than myself, If you haven’t read my
last blog post, please check it out as you’ll get a feel for me, my trusty little corolla and my personal approach to drifting this year.
As I’m sure you can tell, I’m really excited for what this season could bring/ Over my next few installments I hope to keep you up to speed on the developments of my own competitive season and maybe get into some more technical specs on Brian’s, David’s and my own car.
Thanks for reading guys, until next time.
Daniel.
