Nissan are recalling around 51,000 vehicles after a Finnish man reported that the steering wheel of his new Nissan Qashqai came off in his hands.
Nissan have said they have identified the fault on the models concerned, the 2012 Nissan Qashqai and 2012 Qashqai+2 along with some 2012 NV200 vehicles, which are produced at their Sunderland plant.
This possibly affects around 1,000 vehicles in Ireland and 7,000 vehicles in the UK, with Nissan estimating 600 vehicles may need attention, although the recall is in place globally except North America.
Inspections of the cars are to be carried out at authorised Nissan dealerships and should take around 15 minutes, where the casting date of the steering wheel armature will be inspected and the steering wheel replaced at no cost to the customer.
