McLaren have been very busy lately. Unlike most car companies, they've actually listened to the feedback and input from customers and the motoring press and have acted on it immediately. They have been subtly updating the MP4-12C and the new Spider version to improve the character of the car.
The MP4-12C did come in for some critisism for being a bit dull when compared to the Ferrari 458 italia - it's main rival.
So, Its had a power hike, up to 616bhp, they've messed with the gearbox software to give more aggressive shifts when you want them and less aggressive shifts when you don't. They've tuned the exhaust and engine software to make it sound more lairy plus a host of other stuff we dont understand
Autocar's Steve Sutcliffe puts the new Spider through its paces and he seems pretty impressed, especially considering McLaren have only been making road cars for 2 years. Where will they be in 10 years time?
