MicksGarage.com has become the
first Irish online retailer to launch
An Post’s MyParcel PickUp service as an alternative delivery point for its customers. The Irish multi-award winning car parts & accessories website has linked up with An Post to become the first eCommerce company in Ireland to offer their customers the option to collect their MicksGarage order at their local Post Office.
MyParcel PickUp is one of many new offerings An Post has implemented to provide a high quality multichannel parcels delivery service. It offers customers of online retailers who are signed up to the service, the option of having their parcel securely delivered to any Post Office in the country, where they can collect it any time during Post Office opening hours, Monday to Saturday. Once the parcel has arrived at the Post Office, customers will receive a text message or e-mail to alert them that they can collect their item, which will be held for 5 days.
According to Jason Byrne, Head of Sales at An Post, “Click and collect, while well established in other countries, is still developing in an Irish context.” It is because of this that Jason sees MyParcel PickUp as a game changer for parcel delivery in Ireland. “Consumers are increasingly looking for more convenient ways to have their online purchases delivered and MyParcel PickUp is just one of the latest delivery options on offer from An Post, including delivery to a neighbour, local shop, local Post Office, the delivery office or redelivering the item to the same or an alternative address free of charge on instruction from the addressee. With MyParcel PickUp, customers can have their packets and parcels delivered to over 1,100 Post Offices in the current phase, and shortly to a further 2,000 PostPoint locations in convenience stores and forecourts nationwide. Operating from their headquarters in Dublin 12, MicksGarage.com have identified An Post’s MyParcel Pickup solution as a “fantastic delivery option for all our Irish customers”, citing the fact that the network of Post Offices “gives us incredible, unrivalled access to every corner of Ireland”.
Speaking about the partnership, Ciaran Crean, Managing Director of MicksGarage noted that “flexibility around delivery is a key piece of feedback that we have received from our customers and so we’re constantly looking at ways to improve it. This solution through AnPost’s MyParcel Pickup will open up a secure alternative to getting your parcel delivered to a home or work address. Also, the fact that most Post Offices are open on Saturdays also allows our customers to receive their parts at the weekend and work on their cars when they will have time.
