Our popular ‘History of’ series of automotive infographics so far covers the BMW 3 series, Porsche 911, Toyota Corolla, Subaru Impreza, Ford Escort, VW Golf, Nissan Skyline and the Honda Civic - All icons in their own right, but today we have something a bit different. The iconic Land Rover has been around for many many years and it's fair to say style has never been its main focus- It's pretty much a box on wheels. That said, as well as it's cult classic status as a utilitarian workhorse that can go anywhere and handle anything it has carved itself a loyal following amongst those who value form over function and blinged out and equally, tatty old Land Rovers can be spotted on the most fashionable of high streets. The Land Rover Defender is a 4x4 that you need to drive to really appreciate its charm. It has the turning circle of a double-decker bus, it's noisy, unrefined and has little in the way of creature comforts - Radio anyone? Not here! The Land Rover is a rugged and hard wearing tool that you can literally throw anything at and it will handle it with ease. One of the reasons they're so popular is that they just keep on going for years and years, so much so that owners will tell you, they effectively become part of the family! Perhaps this is part of the reason they also hold their value so well and are extremely sought after. What make and model would you like us to feature next? Why not leave us a comment below.
