The controversially styled Delta Wing which I think was first intended as a possible new direction for the Indy car series in the U.S has hit the track for the first time. Nissan has taken the project under its wing and will be bringing the new car to Le Mans where it is is due to take on the 24 hour race this year. The whole theory behind the Delta Wing is efficiency. This car has half the aerodynamic drag of an open wheel racer, is twice as economical and is half the weight. It has a 1.6 turbocharged 4cylinder engine producing about 300bhp.
There's no denying it looks a bit mad, maybe we'll get used to it? Batman would approve i'm sure!
