BMW is the latest car manufacturer to recall some of it's vehicles, with over 560,000 of them being recalled in the US and Canada due to an electrical problem. European drivers have been spared however, including it's home market of Germany.
Reason for the recall is due to a fault that may cause the car to stall unexpectedly, however so far only one crash has occurred as a result in Canada, with no reported injuries. The official line from the National Highway Traffic Safety Authority is that a battery cable connection with a fuse box on the cars may degrade over time, which in turn may cause the engine to stall because of a loss of electric power, and therefore increasing the risk of a crash.
The models effected are the ever popular 3-Series saloon, convertibles, coupes and sports wagons as well as its 1-Series coupes, convertibles and Z4 roadsters, which were manufactured between March 2007 and July 2011.
Other markets effects include Japan and South Africa.
