The summer is just around the corner, and with another bank holiday coming up we have compiled a list of some of the best cycling routes around Ireland. While the list is by no means exhaustive there is plenty to keep both casual and serious cyclists happy in their saddle.
The Beara Way - Cork/Kerry - 138Km The first up is Beara Way which brings the rider through both Cork and Kerry, giving them the opportunity to view both the Slieve Miskish and Caha mountains as they plough through the 138Km journey. You can see the route in detail
here.
The North West Trail - Various Counties - 326KmThis route takes in 5 counties and 2 countries! It most certainly isn't for the faint-hearted amongst us. The lengthy cycle goes through Leitrim, Sligo, Donegal, Tyrone and Fermanagh. Here at Micks Garage we reckon you have to be extremely dedicated/crazy to even consider it but for those of you that fancy it you can see the full route
here.
Loop Head - Clare - 65KmThis route that takes in the beautiful Cliffs of Moher along the way. While you may have the urge the push a few obnoxious Americans over the edge, there is no doubting that it is one of the nicest sights in Ireland. The route is relatively short and can lead to a very enjoyable weekend should the weather stay nice, read more
here.
Ballyconneely & Roundstone Loop - Galway - 40Km The last and the least, the shortest route to feature covers the idyllic Connemara terrain. It is the only one that should take only one day for the average cyclist when you account for sightseeing. Galway is one of the best cities in Ireland for a weekend getaway and this trip might be just the thing to blow the cobwebs off after painting the town red! Read about the route
