The MicksGarage.com Formula Sheane Championship is to hold their own tribute to the late Ayrton Senna who tragically died May 1st 1994. To mark the 20th anniversary all the drivers have decided to run their cars with the famous Senna 'S' logo on the nose cone of their machines.
Senna is widely regarded as one of, if not the greatest driver of all time and the Formula Sheane competitors wish to remember him the best way they can. The Formula Sheane Championship has been lucky enough for the last two years, to have been chosen by the Leinster Motor Club to race for he most prestigious prize in Irish Motorsport, the Leinster Trophy.
The class had this honour exactly 30 years after Ayrton Senna came to Ireland himself to try win this trophy, and win it he did, trademarking signature moves that many have reproduced in years past. With drivers in the class already sporting Senna tributes such as Gary Corcorans Williams coloured car and Kevin Sheane's bright yellow helmet this seems a fitting tribute by all. So if your in the Downpatrick area over the weekend pop in and see the cars in action.
